Our June ConcertHarry Davies Started the night with Jean, Any Dream Will Do, Memory, Spinning Wheel and Spanish Eyes. David Rigby was our next player with Spinning Wheel, Loveliest Night Of The Year and Highland Cathedral. Tom Bennet then took to the stage and Played La Cumpasita, Hernando's Hideaway, Jealousy, Peg O'My Heart, How Can You Buy Killarny, Peggy O'Neil, Puppet On A String, Running Bear, The Sound Of Silence and Whistling Rufus. Our next player, Colin Ensor, Played The Blacksmith, Moulin Rouge, Lara's Theme, Charmaine, At The Balalaika, and I'll String Along With You. It was time for Bill Agnew to take to the stage with a selection of tunes including:- Let Him Go Let Him Tarry, Isle Of Innisfree, Carolina In The Morning, You Made Me Love You, Love Walked Right In, Music Music Music, Irish Washerwoman, Yellow Bird, Hunting Home, Song Of The Rose, Scotland The Brave and Highland Laddie. I then played Sailors Hornpipe, Whispering Hope, Oslo Waltz, Cuckoo Waltz and Black Mask Waltz before leaving the stage for Elaine to play Fields Of Athenry. Graham Driver was our next player, he played Cuckoo's Nest, Weasel's Revenge, Lenny Brazil's Hornpipe, Speed The Plough Donkey Riding, The Walled Garden Waltz and White Ladies Aston. David Rigby entertained us with Daisy, When Irish Eyes Are Smiling, Spinning Wheel, Whispering Hope and Old Rugged Cross. Our next player was Colin Ensor who gave us Secondary Waltz, You'll Never Know, May you Always, Sunshine Of Your Smile, Some Day and Sweetheart Of All My Dreams. Bill Agnew then retuned to the stage to finish the night playing Under The Double Eagle, Cuckoo Waltz, Mocking Bird Hill, C'est Si Bon, Don't Get Around Much Any More, No Regrets, That's Amore, Arrivaderchi Roma, That's Why The Lady Is A Tramp and Margie. Johnny Cash Prison ConcertFans of Johnny Cash will be be pleased to know that the programme Johnny Cash, Behind Prison Walls is on the Performance Mainstreet Channel, (Sky Channel 271) on Tuesday 29th July from 4pm through to 5.30pm. This 90 minute programme features Johnny Cash playing a concert in the Tennessee State Prison in Nashville.

Birmingham Accordion CentreRob Beecroft is currently photographing his entire stock of new and second hand accordions for inclusion on his website. This will allow us to browse his wares before taking a trip down to Birmingham. The new list will include photographs, descriptions and prices.

Accordion CartoonThe children's programme King is on Nickelodeon channel (sky channel 604) on Wednesday 16th July 2008 from 5am to 5.30am. This 30 minute long programme is called The Accordion Of Doom. Russel’s nightmare of performing an accordion recital to a group of monsters is gulped by the Dream Gulper - which makes dreams come true! |
Tram SundayThis festival will be held on the 20th of July 2008. You will see a large, loud and colourful gathering of town criers from all parts of the country. There will be Charity Stalls, Military Displays, St John Ambulance, Model Railway Exhibition. A Miniature Railway will run along Mount Street and Adelaide Street. Kiddies Funfairs & Rides will be in abundance. Look out for the attractions in Euston Gardens, Adelaide Street and Styan Street. A popular attraction for the kids is the giant slide at Fisherman's Walk. There will also be Amusements in London Street. There will be bands of every description, dancers, singers, etc. Coupled with these entertainers, will be a large group of town criers who will be announcing the various attractions throughout the day. This WednesdayThis Wednesday we have a great night lined up with our guest artist Stefan Andrusyschyn making his debut at the club. You may have seen Stefan as a featured guest artist at accordion festivals but this is the first time I have been able to get him for the club. I am looking forward to Wednesday night's concert. As usual, the doors open at 7.30 for an 8pm start. Make sure you turn up early for a good seat. Please bring your family and friends. I will see you on Wednesday. David Batty |
Saturday WorkshopsAs mentioned last month, I am considering a series of Saturday tuition Workshops to be delivered in The Priory Club. These will feature a wealth of tips and advice from past guest artists sharing the secrets of their success with us. If you have not let me know of your interest in these workshops then please do so very soon.

Accordion TV SeriesOn Friday July 11th the first broadcast of the first episode of the TV program titled "Accordion" went out on on TV "Studio 100" and "Studio 100-Sat. The TV programme was initiated by Giorgio Martellotta who is the producer and director. The program will be devoted entirely to the accordion with interesting information regarding the “history of the accordion” and “manufacture and repair of an accordion”. This is available to Sky TV owners in Mainland Europe but is also available to anyone in the UK who has a multichannel steerable satellite tv system. I will let you know if the programme starts broadcasting on normal Sky Channels in the UK.

Coupe Mondiale The prestigious Coupe Mondiale event is being hosted for the first time in Scotland from October 21st - 26th 2008 will include an array of concerts and festival events.

Our WebsiteOur Internet website has had 118,920 visitors as at the 11th July 2008. That's 860 visitors since last month. Our website has a new co-editor in the form of Rebecca Parker who has recently added 54 of our past newsletters to the site, bringing the site up to date with our news and concerts. These have brought phone calls from site visitors who have found our site after finding the new pages and reading about our latest activities.
